As a result of the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cano Health today announced the expansion of its telemedicine program for routine care, effective immediately, in order to protect and better serve its patients, staff, and community.
Routine Visits through Telemedicine. All new or pre-existing routine (non-urgent) visits will be scheduled as a telephonic encounter or re-scheduled within next 30 days, depending on medical need. Through telemedicine an initial patient appointment will be set up with a clinician who will complete a virtual check-up. This encounter will then have a follow-up appointment within a medically indicated timeframe.
Routine visits include but are not limited to, prescriptions and refills, annual labs, routine labs, and follow- up for hypertension, diabetes, and other common conditions.
Urgent Visits. Cano Health centers will remain open for urgent visits and procedures. Patients will be screened on respiratory symptoms prior to their coming to the center and/or taking our transport vehicles. Those presenting possible high-risk symptoms will be referred to the Cano Urgency Support numbers for appropriate triage and case management.
Urgent visits include, but are not limited to, new or worsening conditions that require immediate attention, such as abscesses, decompensation of chronic disease, open wounds, or acute injury. These conditions generally require medical attention within 24hrs.
24×7 Urgency Support Lines. Cano Health continues urging patients who are presenting any mild COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms to STAY HOME (per CDC recommendations) and call Cano’s urgency numbers, staffed by clinicians who will triage patients, as appropriate.
The 24×7 Urgency Support numbers are listed below:
By widening its telemedicine program, Cano Health is helping to protect both its patients and clinical staff, who will have the option of conducting virtual screenings from their homes or other safe havens.
