Psychiatrist and Medical Director, Serenity, CMCHLattitude 2022 - Guest Speaker
More than three decades ago doing the clinical rotations in Medical School, I got in my hand one of the greatest books written by Viktor Frankl: “The man in search of meaning”, which was decisive in my training as a psychiatrist, with a very firm objective in my career, that of improving the quality of life of patients with mental illnesses of a long evolution, preserve the respect and dignity of the patient, family members, and caregivers, trying to eliminate the public stigma about mental illness. I am committed to helping the patient and family to find healthy perceptions of themselves as peaceful, complete, whole, and safe.
My educational background includes a Medical Doctor Degree from Universidad Central del Este School of Medicine in the Dominican Republic, then I completed my Residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship in Psychopharmacology at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. I was awarded by the Veterans Administration Hospital/UM, Miami, Florida with the Outstanding Senior Resident Award. Currently, I am the Medical Director for Mental Health Services at Cano Behavioral/Serenity CMHC. Highly committed to my work, I am distinguished by my great seriousness and concern for human well-being.
