Nicole Purcell, DO, MS is a general neurologist and Senior Director of Clinical Practice at the Alzheimer’s Association, where she is a leader in the creation of clinical content for education of professionals, health systems, and other clinical audiences. She is also working to inclusively standardize the delivery of quality care to persons living with dementia. Prior to her tenure with the Alzheimer’s Association, Dr. Purcell held a variety of clinical, administrative, and teaching roles within the community healthcare setting. As a driver of telehealth care to reduce disparities in healthcare access, she developed hospital-based, telehealth networks at several health systems to connect patients with clinical care, in which they would not have had access otherwise. As Director of Stroke, she ensured high quality stroke care in conjunction with Joint Commission Accreditation. Administratively, as the Assistant Medical Director of multiple specialty practices, she worked closely with each practice leader to develop specialty-specific quality measures, physician recruitment/retention, compensation, and facilitated program growth. Throughout her career, she engaged patients clinically with care in the hospital, outpatient clinic, and via telehealth platforms. She continues to maintain a limited clinical role with Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pennsylvania.
