Dr. Juan Rivera
Chief executive Officer and Founder of Healthy Hearts and Univision’s Chief Medical Correspondent
Dr. Juan is, without question, one of the world’s leading health & wellness voices – charismatic, trusted, proven, and beloved by millions.
With a unique combination of friendly, accessible instruction combined with precisely-researched information, Dr. Juan has become the wellness north star of the Hispanic community.
Whether he is teaching about preventative medicine that fuses science and tradition or sounding the alarm about urgent health crises, he has the rare ability to convey complicated knowledge in a way that makes it simple and actionable.
Dr. Juan became the most trusted voice for Hispanics during the Covid pandemic; tens of millions of Hispanics have followed the advice he has given via every single platform on the Univision Network as well as via his social media outlets. Because of his effort during the pandemic, People en Español Magazine named him one of the most influential figures in 2020 and the prestigious News Pro Magazine named him one of the 12 people to watch in TV News in 2021.
A board-certified Cardiologist, Dr. Juan is a graduate of Baltimore’s prestigious Johns Hopkins University. Despite his many media duties, he continues to maintain a successful private practice in Miami Beach, Florida.
Since 2012, Dr. Juan has been Univisión’s Chief Medical Correspondent. His highly visible role across all content channels at Univisión gives him a broad platform to promote health and wellness to the large Hispanic population of the United States. His message centers on preventative health, with simple strategies to improve exercise, diet, stress response, sleep patterns, natural remedies, and heart health.
He traveled the world investigating culturally significant alternative and natural medicines as the host (and co-creator) of the popular Medicina Desconocida, which aired on Univisión, Unimás, and Galavisión. The English-language version, called Strange Medicine, aired on Fusion (ABC/Univisión) and in-flight on Delta Airlines. Dr. Juan created and led Reto 28, a diet challenge with over 500,000 participants. Reto 28 set records as the most successful social initiative in Univisión history and helped participants lose more than a million pounds collectively. In his role as Chief Medical Correspondent, he is a regular presence on Univisión’s leading programs, including Despierta América, Primer Impacto, Noticiero Univisión, Al Punto, and Aquí y Ahora, among others. He also hosted his own hourly program each week on Univisión. He has done guest appearances on Good Morning America talking about diet and weight loss, cardiovascular prevention, and the effect of the pandemic on minority populations.
He is the author of the bestsellers, Mejora Tu Salud De Poquito a Poco (Penguin Random House), and The Mojito Diet – his first book for the English-language market.
Dr. Juan is the visionary behind the Santo Remedio concept, a focus on science-based historical remedies. His Strange Medicine journey led to his bestselling book Santo Remedio (Penguin Random House), now in its tenth edition (with Chilean, Spanish, and Uruguayan versions under the title, Curarse Naturalmente). He further expanded the Santo Remedio concept with the recently published Santo Remedio para Mujeres.
The overwhelming success of the Santo Remedio concept inspired Dr. Juan to create the Santo Remedio line of natural supplements and OTC products, focused specifically on the needs of the Hispanic market. Santo Remedio is the culmination of years of Dr. Juan’s personal curiosity, clinical experience, media expertise, patient and audience feedback, and incredible connection with the Hispanic community.
His exemplary career and passionate work for the good of Hispanics led the Asociación Médica Nacional Hispana to award Dr. Juan the prestigious Premio al Liderazgo en Salud.
